A single count of misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury was filed Tuesday against Woods in Vanderburgh County, Ind., court.

MORE: Most heinous crimes connected to athletes

Following a Nov. 19 game at the University of Evansville, the players, Malik Maitland and Soufiyane Diakite, told a Morehead State police officer that Woods physically abused them in separate incidents, WKTY reported, citing court documents. Maitland, a freshman, said Woods backhanded him in the chest during halftime; Diakite, a junior, accused the coach of shoving him during a timeout and after the game in the locker room.

The officer then notified police in Evansville.

Woods, 46, was suspended by Morehead State with pay last month while the school investigated “complaints received" about the coach.

He also received a one-game ban in 2012 following an incident in a game against Kentucky at Rupp Arena involving then-Morehead State guard Devon Atkinson.

Woods is due in court Feb. 9.

Morehead State did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
