As for the previous Xbox Free Games with Gold titles, only one of them is going away. Dark Void, which was made available earlier this month, won’t be free to download after today. On the other hand, Vikings: Wolves of Midgard has a bit longer to go, being available to download until April 30th.

For the second half of April, Microsoft has Truck Racing Championship, a truck-racing simulator that combines all the entertaining components of a racing game with giant 5-ton, 1000-horsepower semis. Fans of games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport might find the twist on the racing genre to be a pretty interesting one, if not fun to play around with. Without the subscription this game costs a hefty $59.99, although it’ll be available until May 15th.
The second game in the line-up, Hard Corps: Uprising, is far less graphically intensive but just as entertaining. This game pays homage to the classic Konami action series Contra, being both a 2D side-scroller and a thrilling retro shooter. Players can choose from an Arcade mode, or an all-new Rising mode that allows one to purchase items and upgrades. Even better, it only costs around $9 to own without the subscription, although those possibly looking to save up for an Xbox Series X only have until April 30th to download this title for free.

Games with Gold has served as a pretty good way for gamers to expand their library, but the service has garnered an increasingly poor reputation. It’s obvious that the company is focused on its sister service, Xbox Game Pass, but some fans wish that Microsoft would integrate Gold or phase it out otherwise. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening anytime soon, so any players looking to collect bigger titles more often might want to switch over to Xbox Game Pass instead.
One major advantage that Xbox Game Pass has over Games with Gold going forward is day one availability for major release titles. For Game Pass subscribers, the third-person shooter Outriders was free to play without any extra cost, leaving many implications for the future of the service in regards to third-party games.
