The PlayStation 5 has been a hot ticket item since pre-orders started dropping yesterday, quickly selling out through numerous retailers, even though they weren’t meant to go live until today. Since then, they’ve been hard to come by, but fans will soon get another shot at them.
According to its website, Walmart will have more PS5’s available for pre-order tonight at 6 PM PST. Fans will need to be quick if they want to grab one, as they’re bound to sell out within a few minutes if supply is anything like other retailers have experienced. The console has been in high demand since pre-orders went live, with the available demand apparently being much lower than the expected supply.

Both consoles have the message that pre-orders will resume at 6 PM PST, so fans may be able to get their hands on their desired console, though there’s bound to be competition. Sony was clear ahead of time that the consoles would be in limited supply, so the inability to find them online shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to fans. What’s more disappointing is how much PS5s are going for on eBay, as scalpers appear to have taken a significant portion of the consoles.
PS5 Pre-Order PS5 Digital Pre-Order
Surprisingly, Walmart was one of the first retailers to send its PS5 pre-orders live following the PlayStation 5 event yesterday. It isn’t entirely clear where the additional supply is coming from, but it is good seeing more have come into stock.
Hopefully, more retailers will find additional supply as the PS5 release date gets closer, but in the meantime, fans will just have to keep hoping for restocks. Many have vented about the botched pre-order process, upset that the consoles didn’t go live when they were supposed to, but it’s not something that can be easily rectified now.
The PS5 isn’t the only pre-order to get botched, either. Nvidia’s RTX 3080 cards have also immediately sold out, with scalpers raising prices on the new graphics cards too. It’s an unfortunate situation, and one that has become increasingly common with limited-supply items, like new game consoles and events.
Part of the scarcity also stems from the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected global supply chains around the world, hindering the ability to manufacture items. With any luck, Sony will be able to ramp up PS5 production soon, but in the meantime, fans just have to keep their ears to the ground.
The PS5 releases November 12.
