Time restriction or not, free is free and this is just more free content for the PS3 port. PS3 gamers are already getting an interactive comic recap of the first game, and all the Xbox 360 version of game’s DLC for free. So while the game might be arriving a little late to the party on PS3, at least it is putting its best foot forward, including some updates in the graphics department.
While the inclusion of all the Xbox 360 version’s DLC for free is nice, and the updated graphics will likely impress, the $59.99 price point could keep gamers that own both a Xbox 360 and PS3 away from the PS3 version. PS3-only owners, however, can rest assured knowing they are getting an awesome Mass Effect 2 package. There is a reason why Mass Effect 2 won or was nominated for so many 2010 gaming awards. It packs a solid story, great writing, and fun action into one very playable package. With PS3 owners getting what amounts to about 6 hours of bonus DLC missions, like the Lair of the Shadow Broker, this version of Mass Effect 2 is certainly one that delivers on the game-content/dollars-spent scale.
What is your take on the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2? Does the addition of the all the free DLC content make you more interested in the game? If you have already played Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 does the PS3 version interest you at all? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Mass Effect 2 arrives on the PS3 on January 18, 2011.
