Morbius is an anti-hero movie that follows the titular Spider-Man character and explores his origin. For many, Morbius is an unknown character in comparison to the other Marvel heavyweights. However, some fans know Morbius from his time in the comics and even in the animated Spider-Man television series.

That show had a storyline that incorporated Spider-Man, Blade and Morbius in a very interesting arc. Many fans want to see something like this incorporated on the big screen, and even the lead actor Jared Leto wants to see it. There are so many ways this Marvel arc can go, but one thing is clear, Espinosa has been bitten by the Marvel bug, which has left the director with plenty of ideas. “I remember when I was 12 years old, I read a comic book called Secret Wars, and it was when they took all the superheroes to a planet and all the super bad guys to a planet, and they had to fight each other,” the director said during an interview with GamesRadar+. “In Marvel, it always has existed, this great fascination of creating groups, and new friendships that can oppose other friendships. And I think that all us Marvel fans would die to see the Sony-verse people together.”
The Secret Wars comic referenced is a very popular comic book storyline that many fans have been asking for. It’s unclear if fans will get the version that they’re asking for or if Marvel will do its own version, similar to how they changed the civil war storyline. Hopefully, in this case, they wait until many of the upcoming characters are established in the universe and it’s just an all-out brawl with a little story set up. A lot of rumors surround the possible Secret Wars film, as it can potentially break boundaries of visual spectacle or special effects by just making it predominantly fight scenes. Marvel might have to rely more on practical effects for a long fight like this in order to make it less expensive or visually intense.
The closest thing to an all-out brawl like this was the climactic moments of Avengers: Endgame, which had every single hero assemble for an all-out giant battle. That is one of the fans’ most memorable scenes, but it was relatively condensed due to timing as well as costs. If Secret Wars happens, then hopefully it’s done to its full extent, though that is a big request due to the visual challenge required to make most of these characters work on the big screen.
Morbius is currently in theaters.
