News of the Moon Knight trailer’s arrival was teased by Disney Plus via Twitter on Friday of last week, hinting that footage would arrive during the NFL Super Wild Card matchup between the Los Angeles Ram and Arizona Cardinals on Monday night. The Marvel Studios teaser, which accumulated 15 seconds, didn’t reveal much but highlighted a quick glimpse of Isaac cloaked in his full Moon Knight attire. The images provided were similar to those showcased during Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special but included first looks at the main antagonist, played by Hawke. “There’s chaos in you,” stated Hawke’s character as the clip further revealed the psychological nature of the protagonist’s journey.

The Moon Knight trailer showcases an intense psychological battle within Spector, who can’t tell the difference between his waking life and dreams. The series looks to be one riddled with complexity as Spector tries to piece together the shattered fragments of a reality he can’t seem to comprehend. The footage first introduces Spector as Steven, which deviates from his actual name and indicates that a series of events will unearth the character’s past aggressively. His mental battle exudes through an array of scenes that pass by, woven with a unique instrumental mix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Night” as Spector begins to lose control and embrace the chaos. Audiences see yet another glimpse of Isaac in his Moon Knight attire, but footage of the character in action is still limited to a few seconds. Nevertheless, the Moon Knight trailer portrays what’s to come and the battle Spector will unsuspectingly face.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, director Mohamed Diab touched on his experience working on the newest MCU project. He stated, “It’s been such a great experience — I’m learning a lot. I’m appreciating things more about my independent movies, and I’m appreciating things about the big machine. I can’t compare Marvel to anything else, but it’s a great machine. Those guys are geniuses.” Diab will direct four of the six episodes of the upcoming Disney Plus series, with Benson and Moorhead spearheading the other two. It will be intriguing to see how Diab’s vision comes to life on the screen, anchored by Isaac and Hawke, who both look to excel greatly within their differing roles.
The Moon Knight series will center around Marc Spector, played by Isaac, who embodies the complicated vigilante and suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. Spector was a former US marine facing death before his life fell within the hands of Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian god of the Moon, for whom he has now become a conduit. The multiple identities of Moon Knight fight for control of his body amid a war against the backdrop of modern and Ancient Egypt. Egyptian writer and director Diab will serve as lead director of the series, alongside Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, making his English-language debut within the MCU franchise.
Moon Knight is the first of many new MCU shows entering the Disney Plus platform in 2022. The studio has already confirmed the arrival of series such as She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, with others patiently waiting on the horizon. WandaVision was the spark that ignited Marvel Studios’ momentum in 2021, which is something Moon Knight hopes to replicate in the new year. The six-episode series looks to be an enthralling psychological adventure, but only time will reveal how impactful the vigilante’s addition to the MCU will be.
Moon Knight is set to arrive to Disney Plus on March 30, 2022.
