When compared to the Horizon: Zero Dawn content in Monster Hunter: World, the Mega Man crossover seems a bit more substantial. Players will be able to customize their Palicoes, a cat-like creature that joins them on hunts, to look exactly like an 8-bit version of Mega Man, Mega Buster and all.
The Mega Man crossover content for Monster Hunter: World doesn’t stop there. To further celebrate the Blue Bomber’s 30th anniversary, various tunes from his games will also be included in Monster Hunter: World, heard when players use certain weapons in the game. The inclusion of Mega Man content in Monster Hunter: World may convince those unsure about the game to give it a shot. However, anyone on the fence should really take the time to try out Monster Hunter: World’s ongoing beta on PS4, which allows them to hunt three different monster types across two of the game’s locations. Playing the beta could give someone a feel for if they will enjoy the full game when it launches next month, and as a bonus, it will give them the opportunity to unlock some exclusive content.
Between the beta and interesting crossover content with Mega Man and Horizon: Zero Dawn, it’s clear Capcom is hoping for Monster Hunter: World to truly break into the mainstream in regions outside of Japan. Since its impressive E3 2017 trailer, the game has been poised to be the biggest game in the franchise, and it will be interesting to see if it lives up to the hype when it releases next month.
Monster Hunter: World will launch on January 26th, 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release planned for a later date.
