Reddit user mhunterhcump noticed that an upcoming Monster Hunter World event quest on March 9 seems rather suspicious. The quest in question is called A Simple Task, and it requires players to deliver 10 gourmet shroomcaps. Despite seeming rather easy, the quest has a Hunter Rank of 30 and a 9 star difficulty level, leading some to believe Deviljho will make his debut by interrupting the event.
This would be consistent with Deviljho’s behavior in previous Monster Hunter games. Deviljho has a reputation of showing up when players least expect it, and so it would make sense it to show up in a similar fashion in Monster Hunter World.
Another reason why fans believe Deviljho will be making its Monster Hunter World debut as part of the upcoming A Simple Task event quest is because it takes place in the Ancient Forest. In Deviljho’s reveal trailer that Capcom released last month, the monster was shown attacking and eating a Great Jagras in the Ancient Forest, so it follows that this is the area where players will encounter it when it finally makes its way to the game.
However, there is also reason to believe that the March 9 event quest is not referring to Deviljho. This is because Deviljho is pegged for a spring 2018 release, and spring technically doesn’t start until March 20. Considering this, it’s entirely possible that the quest is referring to a different powerful monster in the game, with another theory suggesting that it’s the intimidating Bazelgeuse instead.
Regardless of whether or not Deviljho is added to Monster Hunter World on March 9, fans should expect to see the monster make its debut within the next couple of months.
Monster Hunter World is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release planned for later this year.
