RELATED: Monster Hunter World: Everything You Need To Know About The Trap Tool

Gamers will often spot Coral battling with Rajang for territory. Rajang is the King Kong monster with horns.  Hunters that have to kill this beast will need to know a few things beforehand. This guide will cover everything players need to know about the Coral Pukei Pukei.

Where To Find The Coral Pukei Pukei

Gamers can find the monster throughout the Coral Highlands. If a Rajang is nearby, there will likely be a Coral too. Hunters will need to slay Coral in the following three quests:

Play Both Ends. Stay Hydrated. Special Arena: MR Coral Pukei Pukei.

Coral Weaknesses and Resistances

The large wyvern can inflict Waterblight on Hunters, causing them to regenerate stamina at one-third the normal rate. The monster is a water elemental, so it is no surprise that it is immune to water. Coral also has a one-star fire and dragon resistance. The wyvern’s two weaknesses hunters can take advantage of are ice (3*) and Thunder (2*). The Coral is known as the bewitching bird because it is the only wyvern water elemental.

Coral’s head, wings, and tail can be broken, yielding more materials from each carve. To break off the creature’s head, players can use any type of weapon. The beast’s wings can be broken faster by using ranged attacks. Coral’s tail is more susceptible to breaking when hunters attack with a blade.

Fighting The Coral Pukei Pukei

Hunters will deal the most damage attacking this beast’s head or tail. However, Coral’s wings give players the chance for rarer drops. Coral will shoot water out of both its tail and mouth, causing damage and inflicting Waterblight. Hunters need to prevent the wyvern from drinking out of a mushroom, as this will increase the damage from each Coral attack. The monster will also become enraged at times, becoming more aggressive. Hunters that see the creature change color need to prepare to dodge.

When To Attack

While the Coral is enraged, it will hover above hunters shooting its water attack in all directions. Players need to create distance and wait for the monster to return to the ground. While standing on the ground, the wyvern will either be shooting water out of its mouth or out of its tail spout. When the bird is performing the mouth spout attack while standing still, it is the perfect time to inflict damage on the monster. As long as hunters can stay out of the direction of the attack, they can melee the monster repeatedly until it decides to fly away again.

Players can attack the Coral while it is performing the tail attack, but this attack will move from side to side. The base attacks of the bird are telegraphed, and hunters should be able to avoid them without taking too much damage. The monster is also easily stunned when hit with blunt weapons. It will remain stunned for several seconds before recovering. Coral will kick and bite, but quite infrequently. Players can get close to the bird and DPS whenever it lands. For some reason, the wyvern will not show signs that it is weak. Coral will attack right up until the instant it is killed.

Coral Pukei Pukei Carves

Hunters that manage to slay a Coral will have the chance to carve a few high-level items. These carves can be used to create armor and weapons, if players are lucky enough to find them. Below are all of the potential materials that can be found after slaying the Coral Pukei Pukei.

Coral Pukei-Pukei Shard (Master Level): 20-50%. Coral Pukei-Pukei Cortex (Master Level): ~20%. Pukei-Pukei Fellwing (Master Level): ~20%. Coral Pukei-Pukei Lash (Master Level): 80%. Coral Pukei-Pukei Sac (Master Level): ~15%. Fey Wyvern Gem (Master Level): 5%.

Coral Pukei Pukei Armor And Weapons

Gamers can use materials from Coral carves to craft the following weapons:

Laguna Golem I-II. Laguna Blossom I-II. Aqua Flora and Aqua Flora +. Aqua Florescence. Laguna Shot I-II. Deep Lagoon I-II. Laguna Drum I-II. Laguna Pike I-II. Laguna Glaive I-II.

There are only two different armor sets derived from the Coral Pukei Pukei. Gamers can craft the Coral Pukei Beta and the Coral Pukei Alpha. The armor sets are water resistant, but weak against ice attacks. Hunters will need to gather the following materials to craft the Alpha set.

4 Flood Sac. 6 Coral Pukei-Pukei Shard. 3 Monster Toughbone. 2 Bathycide Ore. 1 Coral Pukei-Pukei Lash. 60,000 Zenny. 12 Coral Pukei-Pukei Cortex. 3 Coral Pukei-Pukei Fellwing. 3 Large Coral Pukei-Pukei Sac.

The Coral Pukei sets are in the top tier when it comes to aesthetic gear, and the price for crafting the set is manageable. After slaying a few Coral, hunters should have all the items they need to craft the Coral Pukei set.
