Some players will start to see the requirement for Mid-Grade Ore as they get close to completing the Alcala region story arc, sometime after the Little Ones Lost quest. However, Mid-Grade Ore is not obtainable until reaching the game’s next region. It is a common theme throughout Monster Hunter to give players a glimpse of the kinds of materials they can expect to see in the future, so as to keep them interested and excited. In Monster Hunter Stories 2, that foreshadowing is twice as enticing because of the promise of more awesome monsters that can be recruited.

Where to Get Mid-Grade Ore in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
Players can start finding Mid-Grade Ore as soon as they enter the Loloska region. The most accessible variety of Mid-Grade Ore is Dragonite Ore. Ore deposits all over Loloska and in the region’s Monster Dens can yield Dragonite Ore. It should be noted that players can almost always expect at least one ore deposit to spawn near the nest within any Monster Den. Players arriving in Loloska for the first time should be very careful when exploring though. There are a couple of dangerous Royal Monster locations in the area.
There is an even more valuable variety of Mid-Grade Ore in Loloska - Yoldspar Ore. While Dragonite Ore offers 1 point apiece towards gear upgrades, Yoldspar Ore is worth 3 points apiece. Yoldspar Ore is very rare though, so players should track down the gold-colored ore deposits if they want to gather some.
There will be a better chance of finding these rare gathering nodes when delving into a Rare Monster Den. Players should always keep an eye out for those vibrantly colored dens when traveling through an area, even when exploring with a friend in Monster Hunter Stories 2 multiplayer.
On top of knowing how and where to find rare materials, there are several other Monster Hunter Stories 2 pro tips that can help players on their way. Knowing how to efficiently level the main character and any newly-hatched Monsties is a major key to success. There are also quite a few nuances to the battle system that players don’t necessarily need to learn right away. But gradually learning how to utilize various combat mechanics will pay off big time when the difficulty ramps up later on.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
