Most fans will likely recall that endemic life played a small role as collectibles in Capcom’s Monster Hunter World and Iceborne series. Players often hunt and capture these creatures, then proudly display them in their hunter accommodations in either Astera or Seliana. Monster Hunter Rise endemic life plays a bigger function, with some birds or snakes providing players with buffs, while others even allow hunters to instigate chaotic turf wars between two angry monsters. With Sunbreak offering a brand-new location for gamers to explore, it is not surprising for Capcom to add new creatures that players can use when going head-to-head with a monster.

On the official Monster Hunter Rise Twitter account, a short clip showcasing the only known Sunbreak endemic life was shared by the team. Briefly featured during the most recent Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital event, the Marionette Spider is a fluffy blue spider that can be found around The Citadel. According to the official site, it is related to the Puppet Spider, which is another creature endemic to the lands surrounding Kamura Village, and offers a similar feature of manipulating monster movement with its web.

The main difference with the Marionette Spider, however, is that its function is very similar to the Iceborne Clutch Claw hunter tool. The footage shows how the hunter uses the Marionette Spider’s web to turn the monster’s head towards another direction, effectively slamming them towards a wall to knock them down. Iceborne players will likely recognize this unique gameplay aspect that was first introduced in the Monster Hunter World expansion.

So far, in terms of new endemic life in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Capcom has only shared information about the Marionette Spider. As the launch date of the expansion draws closer, the team will likely give fans more in-game details. Hopefully this will entice the community to get back on the hunting grid of the Monster Hunter series.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch, and Sunbreak will release on June 30.
