Most of the community is likely anticipating the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital event that is happening on May 10. The developers only provided small hints about the topics to be covered during the livestream. This includes new gameplay info and monsters. With only this to ride on, most members of the Monster Hunter community have been sharing speculations that a new playable demo will be announced, and discussing their returning monster predictions with fellow fans.

Though the development team is very tight-lipped about monster rosters and intricate gameplay details, the official Monster Hunter Japanese Twitter account shared news about Sunbreak’s expansion requirements and launch day title update download size. One of the prerequisites for hunters to access the expansion includes completing the main story of Monster Hunter Rise. Another requirement is that players have to complete the High-Rank 7-Star hub quest “Serpent Goddess of Thunder.” Hunters will likely recall this as the quest where they have to take down the elder dragon Thunder Serpent Narwa.
In a separate post on the same Japanese account, Capcom also shares that on the release date of the expansion, there will be a same-day title update. The update will need around 13GB of free space, and hunters have to update their games in order to access all of the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak new monsters and gameplay features. This title update is also a requirement for players who want to connect and play online. However, for hunters who have yet to purchase the expansion, they will still gain some access to features like item packs and new elements such as weapon balance adjustments.
With the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital event only days away, it is not likely that the team will be making any big announcements on social media before the event. Capcom is probably saving all important updates for the upcoming livestream. Fans will have to tune into the digital event for official information, and can only hope that their returning monster predictions will come true.
Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch, and Sunbreak will release on June 30.
