Being able to dress up their hunters, Palicos, and now Palamutes in Monster Hunter Rise, is likely something the fanbase look forward to and enjoy in every new game in the series. This allows some degree of customization for each hunter, giving players the chance to set themselves apart and express their individuality. In Sunbreak, the pre-order bonuses continue the tradition of offering layered armor for a hunter’s Palico and Palamute, just like when Monster Hunter Rise first launched in 2021.

When Capcom revealed the new Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak trailer, the company reminded the community about the pre-order bonuses as well. When hunters purchase the expansion before its launch date, they will receive the “Loyal Dog Costume” and “Striped Cat Costume” layered armor, which any of their Palamutes or Palicos can equip in-game. The Palamute layered armor looks heavily inspired by either the Japanese Akita or Shiba Inu dog breed, while the Palico layered armor seems to take inspiration from real-life calico cats. Fans will likely recall that pre-order bonuses for Monster Hunter Rise had Palico and Palamute layered armor that resembled the Golden Retriever dog breed and Norwegian Forest cat breed.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will also have other new layered armor as bonuses, but these come with purchases of the expansion’s Deluxe Edition or the game’s new set of Amiibo. In the same way that MH Rise Amiibo gave Magnamalo-themed layered armor, players who scan their Sunbreak Amiibo set will get layered armor themed after the game’s flagship elder dragon Malzeno. For fans who love to dress up their hunters, Sunbreak already seems to offer a lot of options in terms of layered armor.

With a slew of new monsters being added to the roster of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, players will likely have a lot more layered armor to craft and equip than in the base game. And as Capcom continues to grow the monster line-up with its upcoming set of free title updates, the hunter community will have more layered armor options to choose from in the future.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now for PC and Switch, and Sunbreak will release on June 30, 2022.
