Monster parts in Monster Hunter are usually specific to certain monsters, but in the case of the Afflicted Claw, they are obtained from difficult anomaly quests. Players will need to know which quests to tackle and the best ways to increase their odds of receiving Afflicted Claws.

Anomaly Quests are new to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and see hunters going head-to-head against Qurio-afflicted Monsters. As these quests are end-game content, they aren’t available until players reach Master Rank 10. What’s more, players will need to increase their MR even further to unlock the quests that drop Afflicted Claws.
How to Get Afflicted Claws
Afflicted Claws are rewards from certain A★★★★ Anomaly Quests, which only unlock after the player has reached Master Rank 50 and completed the Urgent Quest. After doing this, players will want to complete the Anomaly Quests for Afflicted Goss Harag, Afflicted Rakna-Kadaki, Afflicted Aurora Somnacanth, and Afflicted Almudron.
Completing any of these quests is guaranteed to reward the player with one Afflicted Claw, but more can be earned by breaking monster parts or by carving monsters. Players should break as many parts as they can from these Afflicted Monsters and be sure to get all available carves after completing the hunt.
What Are Afflicted Claws Used For?
Afflicted Claws are required to upgrade hunters’ weapons to rarity 10, the highest rarity of weapons as of the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. These weapons surpass anything players have seen thus far and will make challenging anomaly hunts and rampages much more manageable. Aside from weapons, Afflicted Claws can also be used to upgrade Precise Jewels, Draw Jewels, and Fungiform Jewels to +4, providing easier access to the Ballistics, Critical Draw, and Mushroomancer skills.
Players that are just starting out in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak don’t need to worry about Afflicted Claws just yet, but those in the end game should definitely try to collect a few for their weapons. There are also other Afflicted materials in Sunbreak that players can earn by completing other Anomaly Quests.
Monster Hunter Rise is available now on Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
