How To Get Afflicted Blood
As mentioned above, Afflicted Monsters give a new form of reward for players to earn, Afflicted materials. These unique drops come in all shapes, Blood, Claws, Fangs, and more. However, not every one of these materials drops from all Afflicted Monsters, and certain materials can only be earned from specific monsters. Afflicted Blood is a prime example of this notion.
Players can only hunt four specific monsters from 2-Star Anomaly quests to obtain Afflicted Blood. These monsters include Bishaten, Daimyo Hermitaur, Khezu, and Tetranadon. However, they can also defeat them in Investigations to get their Blood as well. No other monsters in the game reward Afflicted Blood, including those in higher tiers.
Whom the player chooses to fight is entirely up to them and their preference. However, the recommendation would be to pick either Khezu or Bishaten, as they are much easier to deal with than Tetranadon or Hermitaur.
Afflicted Blood is used for numerous things throughout the endgame. First and foremost, similar to other Afflicted materials, it’s used for augmenting weapons. Augmenting weapons can range from increasing its attack, defense, or even raising the player’s overall health. It’s the new form of endgame grind to keep players busy until a new title update drops.
Hunters will eventually need other Afflicted materials from other monsters to increase their Augmentation further. However, hunters should be warned that the upper-tier Anomaly quests will be far more difficult than they’ve previously faced. With Title Update 2, more Anomaly quests were added to the game at greater difficulties. This includes Elder Dragon level monsters succumbing to the Qurio virus and becoming Afflicted, such as Gore Magala and Rajang for example.
How To Fight Afflicted Monsters
The best way to defeat these Afflicted monsters is to first and foremost, understand which monster the player is going up against. Essentially, think of Afflicted Monsters as Master-Rank ones, but now have a higher health pool, and have a couple more tricks up their sleeve. Those tricks being the new status effect, Bloodblight, which will slow health regeneration for hunters when they’re damaged by an Afflicted Monster, and the Qurio explosion. The Qurio explosion is a new AOE attack from Afflicted Monsters from which they will release and deal massive damage against hunters, nearly one-shotting them if they’re too close. All Afflicted Monsters can use this ability.
The recommendation before fighting one of these monsters is to first know the moveset and abilities of the monster the player will fight. An example would be Kulu-Yaku. Before fighting an Afflicted version of it, a hunter should first now it’s abilities and moves before fighting one that’s Afflicted, otherwise they’ll have a much more difficult time than they should. If a hunter can do that, then they’ll be able to obtain their Afflicted materials.
