Adding another 20 hours to the base game, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak brought a slew of new monsters, weapons, biomes, and mechanics. Sunbreak was a truly impressive expansion, but Capcom isn’t done with it just yet. Capcom has announced its Tokyo Game Show 2022 schedule, and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is set to take the virtual stage.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Is Scheduled for Tokyo Game Show 2022

Fans can get an overview of Capcom’s schedule for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2022 on the company’s website. While it is hosting both online and in-person events for a few days, September 15 is the big standout with Capcom set to show off a few of its most anticipated games. Alongside Resident Evil Village Gold, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, Exoprimal, and Street Fighter 6, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is set to appear.

At last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Capcom brought a wealth of Monster Hunter news to the table. On top of some Monster Hunter Stories DLC, Capcom also provided more details about its then-upcoming Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise, revealing a handful of new monsters and locations. It was also announced that Monster Hunter Rise would be heading to Steam in January 2022.

With Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak already released, the most likely reveal to come from the showcase would be Sunbreak’s Free Title Update 2. Just before Sunbreak hit shelves, Capcom announced it would providing a handful of free updates for the game in the months to follow. The first of these updates brought four new monsters to the game, some new Anomaly Quests, and a new Anomaly Research Lab.

The next Free Title Update for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is slated for “late September,” so it seems pretty likely that’s what Capcom is revealing at the Tokyo Game Show 2022. If the update follows the same trend as its predecessor, it could bring a handful of new monsters along with some quests, and possibly even a new feature similar to the first update’s Quirious Crafting.

It’s already been confirmed that Flaming Espinas is headed to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak with the next Free Title Update, along with more Rare Species variants. Capcom has also teased a new type of monster called the “Powered-Up Monsters,” though no exact details have been given just yet. A range of quality-of-life improvements are also apparently coming to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak with Free Title Update 2, including increased loadout shortcuts and the ability to lock armor sets to ensure that they’re not accidentally sold.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is available now on PC and Switch.
